Restoration of pedestal-mounted aircraft

It took almost nine months to finish the restoration of our pedestal-mounted aircraft. Under the leadership of Pitt Berthmann, an extremely dedicated team of members of the Traditionsgemeinschaft plus supporters have spent many hours refurbishing the Fiat and the F-86 aircraft, repainting them and applying the necessary markings.

On Sept. 19, they were placed on their pedestals at the new site next to our association building, where we hope they will remain for a long time.

You will find pertinent photographs in image gallery #3. Video #31 on the video page shows a 15-minute film of the remounting, video #32 displays a sequence of aerial photography of the association area and the exhibition building filmed by Claus Lachman with his drone.

Salvator meeting 2019

The Salvator Association of Oldenburg (SGO) (“Salvator” [Latin for `saviour`] is the brand name of a particularly strong beer served during Lent.) was proud to welcome a very special guest of honour at this year`s Salvator meeting: Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, the Federal Minister of Defence. More than 320 guests filled the banqueting hall listening to 30 minutes of opening remarks by Dr. von der Leyen, covering the full range of good and evil of the Bundeswehr’s present situation. After dining on roast knuckles, there was plenty of space and time for rewarding conversations and social contacts. View the pictures on page 4 of the photo gallery (“Salvatorabend 2019”).

TG on Tour 2016

On the invitation of BrigGen Karsten Stoye, a member of our Traditionsgemeinschaft, this year’s “TG on Tour” first took us to Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base. The inspection of the unit was followed by a visit to the Bundeswehr verification center and a sightseeing tour of Aachen (Aix-la-Chapelle). Dinner was served at a cozy restaurant in the old section of town.
The third day took us to Maastricht where we were given a tour of Fort Sint Pieter and the Northern Caves.
